JBS and Mercantile to supply Apple to Pakistani businesses — Dawn
Technology company Jaffer Business Systems (JBS) and Mercantile, one of Apple’s authorized distributors, have announced a partnership aimed at making official Apple products more accessible to businesses across Pakistan. Dawn reports.
Procurement through official channels
Nauman Durrani, CEO of Mercantile Pakistan and senior vice president of SAGE Mercantile, said that companies in the country had previously often purchased Apple devices on the informal market or through indirect sales channels due to a lack of direct support.
According to him, purchasing Apple products, including iPhones, through official channels approved by the Pakistan Telecommunication Authority may save up to 80,000 Pakistani rupees per phone compared with the “grey” channel, including via Dubai. Under the partnership, companies will be able to procure devices in bulk rather than buying them from retail stores.

Security and after-sales support
The partnership is also expected to provide centralized device registration and the application of security policies necessary to protect banking and corporate data. After-sales support will be provided by Mercantile Care service centers in Islamabad and Lahore, with such a center also expected to open in Karachi later.
JBS CEO Waqar-ul-Islam said that adding Apple to the company’s portfolio complements its technology stack and growth strategy for businesses. According to him, computing power for creating modern applications and artificial intelligence workflows should also be available on mobile devices.
