Chinese smart pet products attract foreign buyers
Chinese-made smart pet products, including AI-powered feeders and health-monitoring devices, attracted foreign buyers at the 28th Pet Fair Asia in Shanghai. The event concluded on Sunday at the Shanghai New International Expo Centre. According to ECNS, more than 2,600 exhibitors from China and other countries took part in the exhibition.
Demand for technological devices
Buyers from Vietnam and India cited local suppliers’ artificial intelligence capabilities and rapid product upgrades among the reasons for purchasing in China.
In particular, a feeder developed by a Shanghai company can recognize which animal is eating, track the amount of food consumed, and suggest a feeding plan. Other products include a smart litter box with a 400x optical microscope to detect abnormal indicators in animal waste, as well as a collar that monitors heart rate and breathing.

Export growth
At a pet products factory in the city of Cixi, Zhejiang Province, production lines manufacture thousands of pet dryers every day. A recent batch of this equipment was shipped to the United States. The company said its overseas sales grew by more than 55% year-on-year in the first half of the year; orders also came from Europe, Australia, and Southeast Asia.
Ningbo Customs reported that it received export declarations for pet products worth 2.24 billion yuan, or about $333.2 million, in the first half of the year. This was 21.7% higher than in the same period of the previous year.
