Kyivstar has shared the results of its 5G testing

Kyivstar, Ukraine’s largest mobile operator, has released the initial results of a large-scale pilot test of its 5G network, which is currently underway in Lviv, Kharkiv, and Borodianka.

As of April 2026, nearly 500,000 subscribers have already taken advantage of this innovative technology, and the daily audience of active users reaches 50,000 people.

The results of the tests in real urban conditions were impressive: in Lviv and Kharkiv, 5G already accounts for 40% of the total data traffic within the test zones.

In total, the network has processed over 358 TB of traffic, with owners of flagship smartphones from Apple and Samsung proving to be the most active users.

During closed tests, when the load on base stations was minimal, specialists managed to record peak speeds of over 2.4 Gbps.

For regular users in open zones, performance remains consistently high: average speeds range between 600–800 Mbps, while maximum speeds reach 1.7 Gbps.

Kyivstar also notes that 4G will remain the key mobile communication technology for a long time to come.

The operator will continue to develop and modernize this network, but 5G will be the next step in the development of digital infrastructure and will open up new opportunities for business and the state.

The success of pilot zones in Lviv (where 5G launched in January 2026), Kharkiv, and Borodianka allows the operator to move forward.

The next cities whose residents will be able to experience ultra-fast internet will be Kyiv and Odesa—test sites are expected to launch there in the near future.
