Kojima Productions denies problems at the studio — The Verge
Kojima Productions said it is in a healthy and profitable state, and that its relationship with PlayStation remains strong. The company responded this way to speculation about a change in the publishing partner for the game Physint, The Verge reports.
Kojima Productions statement
In a social media post, the studio said that it usually does not comment on unfounded speculation online. However, it decided to respond to claims concerning its relationship with PlayStation and the reasons for changing Physint's publisher.
The statement came after reports that Sony had declined to publish Physint and that Hideo Kojima's next game would be released on Xbox. Bloomberg wrote that several factors could have influenced the decision, including missed deadlines, concerns about the budget and profitability, as well as the project's temporary exclusivity.

Hideo Kojima's comment
In an interview with IGN, Hideo Kojima said that, given studio closures and game cancellations in the industry, he was worried about the future of Kojima Productions. According to him, he considered Physint a protected project and was surprised by the turn of events.
Kojima also suggested that the loss of one contract could force the studio to cut employees working on Physint or cause a shortage of cash flow. The Verge notes that Kojima Productions' statement came amid reports of allegedly weak sales of Death Stranding and its sequel, as well as the loss of funding from Sony.
