Amazon is rolling out a new AI-powered robot to its warehouses — Reuters

The American corporation Amazon is integrating the innovative mobile robot Proteus, which operates using artificial intelligence, into its European logistics network.

This new technological development is capable of recognizing employees’ voice commands and independently calculating optimal routes for moving cargo.

The project is being implemented as part of a large-scale investment program worth 10 billion euros, aimed at significantly speeding up the delivery of goods to customers.

The Seattle-based e-commerce giant plans to launch an updated version of the robot on the European market in the first half of 2027.

This automated system is designed to radically change the usual algorithms of interaction between human warehouse staff and autonomous machines.

Thanks to artificial intelligence, the robot independently analyzes line congestion and coordinates its actions without constant operator intervention.

“You tell it what needs to be done. And it determines the priorities, route, and deadlines on its own,” said Scott Dresser, vice president of Amazon Robotics.

At the same time, the company presented several other promising technological solutions.

In particular, this includes the STARK robotic system, designed for the automated handling of large containers, which has already been tested at a facility in Barcelona and is planned for deployment at 15 European facilities.

The developers also unveiled Vulcan—the company’s first-ever robot equipped with touch sensors for more precise handling of fragile cargo.

This technological modernization is accompanied by an active expansion of physical infrastructure and express delivery services.

By the end of this year, the corporation will launch more than 25 new ultra-fast “nearly same-day” pickup points in the UK, Germany, and other European countries.

In addition, the company’s fresh food delivery service, which is already operating successfully in 2,300 U.S. cities, will soon significantly expand its reach in Japan.
