Modders test an unofficial version of DLSS 5 in several games — The Verge
Modders are testing an unofficial version of Nvidia DLSS 5 technology in Skyrim, Cyberpunk 2077, GTA V, and other games. The code for the AI upscaling technology reportedly appeared in early access for NBA 2K27.
As The Verge reports, members of the RenoDX modders’ Discord channel allegedly found a way to extract a DLSS file with the Neural Rendering feature and use it in Control. The modification experiments then spread to other games. Notebook Check and VideoCardz had also reported on this earlier.
Changes in Control
In one video, a modder changes DLSS 5 parameters, making the facial features of Control’s protagonist, Jesse Faden, more or less pronounced. When the Neural Uplift feature in the modification is disabled, the character’s face has a smoothed and uniform appearance.

After activating this feature with one of the presets, Jesse’s face looks paler and her smile lines become more noticeable. Darker areas also appear under her eyes, resembling smudged makeup.
Experiments with GTA: San Andreas
Another modder reportedly managed to run this technology in GTA: San Andreas. In the video, it appears to apply an effect to the face of the character CJ and enhance texture detail in the city. The shadows on the protagonist’s face and surrounding objects also seem more pronounced.
When adjusting one of the sliders, the city’s lighting changes from warm to cold. In other videos, the modification makes the stylized Palworld character more pronounced and changes the intensity of shadows.
