Meta has blocked ads from a number of Genesis companies
Meta has begun blocking the advertising accounts of several companies within the ecosystem of Genesis, a Ukrainian IT product company. The restrictions took effect on August 6. Genesis confirmed that it is aware of the temporary restrictions on some of its accounts but stated that the companies’ operations are continuing.
AIN learned about the blocking of the advertising accounts from its own sources familiar with the situation. They wished to remain anonymous. According to their information, the issues with the advertising accounts began on August 6. As of August 7, some of the accounts remained blocked.
Genesis confirmed that the companies had encountered temporary restrictions. “The team is aware of the temporary restrictions on a number of accounts,” the company said in a comment to AIN.
They also emphasized that cooperation with Meta continues. The companies are using the communication channels available on the platform to determine the reasons for the restrictions and, if necessary, appeal the decision. “Each company in the ecosystem independently determines its own marketing strategy. Operations are proceeding as usual: our work with consumers is based on a diversified system of partnerships, and the periodic redistribution of activity among them is standard practice,” Genesis stated.
As of the time of publication, Meta had not publicly explained the reasons for the block.
Which companies were blocked
AIN verified information regarding the advertising accounts of companies within the Genesis ecosystem. As of August 7 at 12:40 p.m., the accounts of the following projects remained blocked:
- Promova
- Headway
- Jiji
- Keiki
- PlantIn
- Nebula
- Briefly
- Universe
- Ohayu
- Kismia
- Affemity
- Obrio
At the same time, the situation may change as companies reach out to Meta to try to determine the status of their accounts.
Have the companies’ pages been blocked?
The AIN editorial team also checked the availability of company pages on Facebook. As of 11:30 a.m. on August 7, the AMO page was completely inaccessible. Journalists were unable to find some other pages, including w7g.
In addition, some of Genesis’s portfolio projects had an unusually low number of Facebook followers. Specifically, the pages for Boosters, Keiki, Universe, and OBRIO had between 46 and 662 followers. AIN notes that this may indicate sanctions imposed by Meta, though the company itself has not confirmed what exactly caused this situation.
What Led Up to This
The situation arose against the backdrop of another problem Genesis faced in the U.S. On June 17, 2026, the U.S. Federal Trade Commission (FTC) filed a lawsuit against the Ukrainian IT company Genesis.
Following the regulator’s action, a federal court temporarily suspended the operations of some Genesis-affiliated companies in the U.S. According to the FTC, these companies may have engaged in practices involving hidden charges to customers and making it difficult to cancel subscriptions. In the lawsuit, the regulator described a possible scheme that, according to its findings, could have been used to charge users.
It involved several stages: personalizing offers and underpricing, attracting users through tests and surveys, manipulative payment pages, repeated charges, and creating obstacles during the subscription cancellation process. The case file mentions 15 legal entities that, according to the U.S. regulator, may be linked to this activity. Among them are:
- GM UNIVERSEAPPS LTD, also known as UNIVERSE GROUP, registered in Cyprus;
- KOFLIMIN LTD, a Cypriot company;
- GROWTHMIND LABS LTD, registered in the state of Delaware;
- LOPOFIST LTD, a Cypriot company;
- GURUDOCS LTD, registered in the state of Delaware;
- BRAMOL LTD, a Cypriot company;
- VPN MOBAPPS LTD, a Cypriot company;
- EVERTECH INC, incorporated in the State of Delaware;
- OBRIO LTD, a Cypriot company;
- GM UNICORN CORPORATION LTD, a Cypriot company;
- SPIRITUAL NEBULA LTD, a Cypriot company;
- YOLO BROTHERS INC, incorporated in Delaware;
- AMOMEDIA LTD, also known as AMO, a Cypriot company;
- AMOAPPS LTD, a Cypriot company;
- AMOAPP INC, incorporated in the State of Delaware.
Eight individuals are also involved in the case. Among them are Genesis founders Volodymyr Mnoholetnyi and Vasyl Ulyanov, as well as Stamatis Skiadis, Oksana Kucher, Iryna Oleksyn, Olga Harbuzenko, Rostyslav Ivanitsa, and Viktoria Savchuk.
At the same time, it is important to distinguish between these two situations. Genesis has confirmed the temporary restrictions on its advertising accounts, but Meta has not yet publicly stated whether the current suspensions are related to the FTC lawsuit or other reasons. A New Mexico state judge ordered Meta to pay $567 million in a lawsuit filed by the state, which alleged that the tech company caused “public harm” and harmed children.
