Microsoft tests solution to resolve hours-long Outlook outage
Microsoft is testing a remediation strategy following a large-scale hours-long outage that affected Outlook and Exchange Online users. According to TechCrunch, the company reported delays and disruptions in sending and receiving emails, authentication issues, and problems with other functions of the mail platform.

Microsoft said it had identified an issue in an authentication component. The company is testing a possible remediation strategy on part of its infrastructure to determine whether it will help resolve the problem. If testing is successful, the solution is planned to be deployed more broadly.

Exchange Online is Microsoft's cloud platform for corporate email, calendars, contacts, and tasks. Due to the incident, users may also have encountered errors when searching mailbox content, performing mailbox operations, and carrying out other processes related to message delivery.
More than 5,000 reports
According to Downdetector, user reports of problems began arriving at about 11:30 a.m. U.S. Eastern Time on Monday. As of 2:00 p.m., the number of such reports exceeded 5,000. Users also complained about problems on the social network X.
