Longtime Apple executive Phil Schiller is leaving the positions in which he was responsible for the App Store and the company’s events. At the same time, he will retain the title of Apple Fellow and work on unspecified initiatives, The Verge reports, citing Bloomberg.

Changes in the App Store

According to Bloomberg, Apple is moving the App Store division under the supervision of services chief Eddy Cue. Carson Oliver will continue to lead the app store. It has not been specified which projects Schiller will work on after handing over his main responsibilities.

Career at Apple

Phil Schiller joined Apple in 1987 and headed the company’s marketing division in 1997. In 2008, he participated in the launch of the App Store together with Steve Jobs. Schiller was also involved in the development of a number of Apple products, including the iPhone, iPad, iPod, and Mac computers.

In 2020, Schiller stepped down as Apple’s marketing chief. The current personnel changes are taking place a day before hardware chief John Ternus is set to replace Tim Cook as Apple’s chief executive officer on September 1.
