Nikon unveils more affordable full-frame Z5 IIC camera — The Verge

Nikon has unveiled the full-frame mirrorless Z5 IIC camera, a simplified version of last year's Z5 II. The new model costs $1,399.95, which is $450 less than the Z5 II's launch price of $1,849.95. As The Verge reports, the model has received an updated design, but the manufacturer has dropped some features to reduce its price.

Sensor and high-speed shooting

The Z5 IIC is equipped with a 24.5-megapixel full-frame back-illuminated sensor and an EXPEED 7 image-processing processor, which is also used in more expensive Nikon cameras. The camera has built-in image stabilization.

The electronic shutter allows JPEG shooting at up to 30 frames per second. The camera can also save images taken one second before the shutter button is pressed. The mechanical shutter supports continuous JPEG shooting at up to 15 frames per second.

Design simplifications

To reduce the price, the Z5 IIC received neither an electronic nor an optical viewfinder. Its 3.2-inch vari-angle touchscreen has a resolution of 1.04 million dots, while the Z5 II's screen has 2.1 million dots.

The camera is also equipped with a single UHS-II SD memory card slot, so it cannot back up photos and videos to a second card. In addition, the Z5 IIC has no joystick: autofocus points and menus must be adjusted using a multi-selector.
