OpenAI to offer free access to ChatGPT Plus for all residents of Malta — Reuters
OpenAI has signed an agreement with the Maltese government under which all residents of the country will be able to use ChatGPT Plus for free for one year.
This was reported by Reuters.
Access will be granted after completing a free course on the use of artificial intelligence. The program will launch in May and will gradually expand to include more people as they complete the training.
Not only residents of Malta but also Maltese citizens living abroad will be able to take advantage of the initiative.
Malta has become the first country to launch such a program in partnership with OpenAI. The parties have not disclosed the financial terms of the agreement.
Previously, OpenAI introduced a new AI model, GPT 5.5, which no longer simply responds to queries but can independently understand tasks and perform them without detailed instructions. In essence, this is a step toward a system that is less dependent on the user and functions more as an autonomous tool.
OpenAI has released a new version of its image generator in ChatGPT. This is ChatGPT Images 2.0, which features improved capabilities and support for searching for information on the internet.
