Robotics Becomes the Core of China’s New Economic Strategy

China is rapidly expanding its use of robots in manufacturing, surpassing all other countries combined. According to recent data, more than two million industrial robots are operating in China, with nearly 300,000 new installations last year alone — more than the rest of the world combined. By comparison, the United States installed just 34,000 robots during the same period.

The government has strongly supported this process, pouring capital into companies and using policy measures to spur the growth of robotics, artificial intelligence, and semiconductor manufacturing. As a result, China has become not only the world’s largest user of robots but also the top producer, accounting for one-third of global output.
Despite its progress, China still faces a shortage of highly skilled workers and remains dependent on imported components for advanced robots. At the same time, the country is heavily investing in start-ups developing humanoid machines and aims to expand further, solidifying its dominance in global industry.
