AI created a 3D-printable part based on a voice description
Engineer Daniel Grisser tested the capabilities of GPT-6 Astra Ultra by showing the system a video describing the problem and providing precise measurements. The AI was able to create a 3D model of the part, which was later printed.
Grisser recorded a video about four minutes long in which he explained the problem of clearing hair from a shower drain and demonstrated the necessary measurements using a digital caliper.
The system analyzed the video, voice explanations, and measurements, then proposed a design and created an interactive sketch.
Next, the engineer asked the AI to use Fusion 360. Using the computer control feature, Astra built a parametric 3D model and, following an additional request, added rounded edges to it.
The finished part was printed on a 3D printer. According to Grisser, it worked on the first try.
The engineer noted that the design itself was straightforward, but the AI made it possible to move much more quickly from describing the real-world problem and taking measurements to a finished model.
