SpaceX to Hold First Investor Meeting Amid Stock Decline
SpaceX is preparing for its first meeting with investors since going public. The meeting will take place following the release of the quarterly financial report, and the main topics will include the decline in the stock price, the prospects for the Starship rocket, the development of Starlink, and the company’s financial results.
Investors expect Elon Musk to explain the reasons behind the decline in the company’s market value. It is noted that SpaceX’s stock price has nearly halved since its peak in June.
Shareholders are interested in the company’s future plans, specifically:
- the timeline for the next Starship rocket tests;
- the development of the Starlink satellite network;
- the project to create orbital data centers.
Rumors of a possible merger between SpaceX and Tesla are also drawing attention, although neither company has officially confirmed such plans. Musk previously stated that he could not comment in detail on such matters due to securities law requirements.
According to FactSet estimates, SpaceX may report a net loss of approximately $1.9 billion, or 23 cents per share, in the second quarter. The company’s total losses for the first half of the year could exceed $5 billion.
Analysts attribute the stock’s decline to investor concerns about the company’s overvaluation, as well as the expiration of the lock-up period, after which some investors were able to sell their shares.
On Monday, SpaceX shares closed at $114.46, significantly below the June high of $225 and also below the initial public offering (IPO) price of $135.
Despite the current challenges, experts expect SpaceX’s financial results to improve in the second half of the year.
One of the company’s key sources of revenue remains the Starlink satellite system, which provides internet connectivity and operates under contracts in many countries around the world.
One of the company’s most important areas of development is the Starship rocket, which Elon Musk views as the foundation for future human missions to the Moon and Mars.
NASA plans to use Starship as part of its Artemis lunar program.
Despite a series of technical problems during previous tests, the latest test flight in July 2026 was more successful: for the first time after several failed attempts, the spacecraft and booster completed the main stages of the mission and performed a controlled splashdown.
This was reported by the Associated Press.
SpaceX’s stock continued to decline following the cancellation of the Starship test launch. On Friday, the stock lost about 4% and has been on a downward trend for the sixth consecutive day.
The American company SpaceX postponed the 13th test flight of the Starship launch vehicle at the last minute. The reason was that some of the 33 engines on the Super Heavy rocket failed to ignite on time.
NASA has lost contact with the MAVEN Mars probe
As a reminder, NASA is testing the new X-59 flying machine, which promises silent supersonic flight.
NASA is also threatening to remove SpaceX from the Artemis lunar mission.
