Outages reported in Outlook and ChatGPT Work

On Monday, users reported disruptions to Microsoft Outlook and OpenAI’s corporate tool ChatGPT Work. OpenAI said there had been an increased number of errors and delays in ChatGPT Work, while Microsoft confirmed degraded performance of a number of Exchange Online features, CNBC Top News reports.

Issues with ChatGPT Work

According to OpenAI’s status page, users on different plans may have been unable to start or continue completing tasks in ChatGPT Work. The company said it continues to implement measures to resolve the issue.

As of 2:24 p.m. U.S. Eastern Time, Downdetector had received more than 1,100 reports of problems with OpenAI products. The ChatGPT account on social media platform X also reported that ChatGPT Work is currently not functioning properly and that the team is working on a fix.

Disruption in Exchange Online features

Microsoft, through the 365 status account on X, said that users may experience degraded functionality across various Exchange Online features. The company said it is analyzing telemetry and diagnostic data to determine the source of the issue.

Shortly afterward, Downdetector recorded about 4,600 reports of Microsoft Outlook malfunctions. The number of complaints about both products had peaked somewhat earlier that day. There was no data on a connection between the OpenAI and Microsoft disruptions.

OpenAI introduced ChatGPT Work in July as a corporate AI agent for completing complex work tasks, including creating presentations, web applications, spreadsheets and documents. Microsoft and OpenAI have been long-standing partners: Microsoft first invested $1 billion in OpenAI in 2019, and the investment later grew to $13 billion.
