Wabi turns app builder into a personal AI agent — TechCrunch

Startup Wabi, which allowed users to create apps through text prompts, has introduced Wabi 2.0 — a new format of personal AI agent. The service is positioned as a kind of AI messenger intended to combine messaging, task execution, and the creation of interfaces tailored to a specific user request, TechCrunch reports.

From builder to agent

Wabi founder Eugenia Kuyda, who previously founded the AI companion startup Replika, described Wabi 2.0 as a personal agent that completes tasks and creates the necessary interface at the required moment. The company is changing its positioning: instead of competing with vibe-coding tools, Wabi aims to compete with AI agents that combine conversations and productivity tasks in a single interface.

According to Kuyda, in agents focused solely on chat, history and current tasks can get lost in an endless stream of messages. She believes users need not only the ability to enter prompts, but also to interact with interface elements, view them, and scroll through them.

Interfaces for everyday tasks

While carrying out a task, the agent can create a separate interface on demand. Among the examples, Kuyda named a calorie counter, a strength-training log, and a weight tracker, which can be available in a health-themed thread.

In a separate thread for family matters, users can create a calendar of children's activities, a language-learning app, or a service for tracking local events for children. Wabi's concept is to bring together the agent, apps, and people in one space for managing important ongoing matters.

Wabi 2.0 is currently available only via an invitation code. Such codes are also being distributed on the social network X.
