OpenAI expands ChatGPT with features for launching third-party apps — TechCrunch
OpenAI has introduced features that allow users to find, connect, and use third-party apps directly in ChatGPT. The company has also expanded its plugin architecture with support for extensions and showcased autonomous AI agents called Dots, which can perform tasks in their own cloud infrastructure and work with connected services.
As TechCrunch reports, ChatGPT will suggest a relevant app during a conversation if it determines that the app can help the user complete a task. Once connected, the service can be used in the chatbot window.
Apps inside ChatGPT
Developers will be able to create interactive panels where users can work with their tools alongside conversations in ChatGPT. This way, web services and native applications for computers and smartphones can receive an AI-oriented version in ChatGPT.
According to OpenAI, ChatGPT has 1.2 billion weekly users. The company also introduced the Sign in with ChatGPT feature, which will allow users to use their ChatGPT account and existing AI usage limit in third-party apps. The 16 launch partners include Cognition with Devin, Notion, Vercel, T3, OpenClaw, and Dactyl.

During the demonstration, OpenAI showed how a new meetings app works in ChatGPT: it displayed scheduled calendar events, allowed users to assign AI to create notes, and generated a summary of follow-up actions after a meeting ended. The company also cited examples of using Figma and Adobe tools to make changes to design projects.
Marketplace and AI agents
The company announced the OpenAI Marketplace enterprise marketplace, where partners will be able to offer their services. At launch, it has more than 30 partners, including Adobe, Figma, HubSpot, Salesforce, ServiceNow, Palo Alto Networks, and CrowdStrike. Eligible customers will be able to use part of their contractual commitments to OpenAI to purchase approved partner software.
Dots agents will have their own cloud computer and browser, and will also be able to use connected apps. According to OpenAI, they will be able to connect to an ecosystem of more than 4,000 apps. Dots will be able to conduct background “proactive research” in read-only mode, while users will retain control over their actions.
OpenAI did not announce a payment or revenue-sharing mechanism similar to the economic model of traditional app stores. The company focused on tools for discovering, distributing, and interacting with apps, as well as on user identification and the use of the AI limit in connected services.
