Farmers Will Receive Government Support Due to Port Blockades
The Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine has adopted the first decision as part of an emergency support package for the agricultural sector, developed in response to Russian strikes on Black Sea infrastructure. Prime Minister Serhiy Koretskyi announced this.
To prevent a halt in exports of grains and oilseeds, the government has temporarily adjusted the minimum permissible export prices for certain types of agricultural products. The previously set minimum prices had become unattainable for new contracts due to a significant increase in logistics costs and a drop in domestic purchase prices. The new measure is intended to enable Ukrainian producers and exporters to sell their products abroad.
In addition, the Prime Minister has instructed officials to immediately develop a plan to expand domestic agricultural processing in order to increase the share of high-value-added goods. The Ministry of Agrarian Policy and Food is monitoring the situation on a daily basis and preparing additional measures to stabilize the agricultural sector.
