The "Yastruby" Unmanned Systems Brigade has received its own postage stamp
A new postage stamp dedicated to the 411th Separate Unmanned Systems Brigade “Yastruby” was unveiled in Kyiv. A special cancellation ceremony for the issue took place on August 27 at the “Saint Sophia of Kyiv” National Reserve, attended by members of the brigade and its commander.
On Thursday, August 27, a presentation and special cancellation ceremony were held in Kyiv for a postage stamp dedicated to the 411th Separate Unmanned Systems Brigade “Yastruby” of the Ukrainian Armed Forces’ Unmanned Systems Forces. The stamp was issued as part of Ukrposhta’s “My Own Stamp” project. It tells the story and combat history of the unit, which—over the years of full-scale war—has grown from a separate battalion into a brigade.
The presentation was attended by Colonel Andriy Sukhin, commander of the 411th Brigade, and service members of the unit. The brigade noted that for them, the postage stamp is more than just a commemorative issue. It is intended to immortalize in history the people who serve in the unit, its combat history, and the technologies that have become an integral part of modern warfare.
The “Hawks” were established in 2022 as the first separate battalion of unmanned aerial systems in the Ukrainian Defense Forces. Over the course of four years of the Great War, the unit has grown into a separate brigade of the Ukrainian Armed Forces’ Unmanned Systems Forces. The “Hawks” carried out combat missions in the Kharkiv and Donetsk regions, as well as in the Zaporizhzhia and Kherson areas, and in the Kursk region.
Today, the brigade works with more than just strike drones. Its units integrate aerial reconnaissance, intelligence analysis, and unmanned systems into a single process—from target acquisition to engagement. A separate area of focus for the “Yastruby” is combating enemy aerial targets. In particular, the troops counter attack drones such as the Shahed.
The brigade is also developing its own technological solutions for use on the battlefield. Among them is the Vezha analytical module, integrated into the DELTA system. It helps process data collected during combat operations and use it more quickly to make decisions. Thus, the new Ukrposhta stamp is dedicated not only to a specific military unit. It also illustrates how, during this full-scale war, unmanned technologies have become one of the key tools of the Ukrainian Defense Forces.
For the “Yastrub” unit, this issue serves as a kind of chronicle of their combat journey—from the creation of the first separate battalion of unmanned aerial systems in 2022 to the current Unmanned Systems Brigade.
