The BEB uncovered an underground alcohol production operation in Volyn
The Economic Security Bureau has uncovered a large-scale scheme involving the illegal production and sale of alcoholic beverages. According to the investigation, the counterfeit products—which lacked excise tax stamps—were sold throughout Ukraine.
As detectives established, members of the organized group had set up a full cycle of illegal activity—from the production of alcohol to its storage, transportation, and distribution.
They used alcohol of unknown origin for production, to which they added dyes and flavorings. The finished products were bottled in 5-liter plastic bottles and special 10-liter plastic bags with spouts, which were then packed into cardboard boxes.
As part of a special operation in the Volyn region, BEB officers conducted more than 14 searches. Investigative actions took place at premises where alcohol and spirits were produced and stored, in vehicles, and at the residences of individuals who may be involved in the scheme.
Law enforcement officers seized illegally produced alcoholic beverages, alcohol of unknown origin, production equipment, packaging containers, dyes, flavorings, and vehicles used to transport the counterfeit goods.
According to preliminary estimates, the total value of the seized products and property exceeds 4.3 million hryvnias.
