In Kovel, a truck struck a military personnel member during a confrontation

In Kovel, Volyn Oblast, a conflict broke out during emergency drills involving TCC military personnel, police officers, and three civilian men. During the incident, a truck struck a TCC soldier and also damaged police and TCC service vehicles.

The incident occurred on the morning of August 28. According to the military registration and enlistment office, a joint patrol of police and TCC soldiers stopped an Audi in which three men were traveling. While checking their documents, it was discovered that the driver had a deferment from mobilization. One of the passengers, according to the TCC, is not a citizen of Ukraine.

Another passenger, according to the TCC, used tear gas against the servicemen. The man then attempted to flee. According to the Volyn Regional Military Registration and Enlistment Office and the Special Forces, the man was caught and escorted to a Military Registration and Enlistment Office vehicle. The military registration and enlistment office separately refuted reports that the servicemen from the alert team were allegedly wearing balaclavas. They stated that their faces were not covered during the incident.

The most serious incident occurred during the altercation. According to the Territorial Center for Conscription and Military Service, the driver of a Renault Master truck struck a serviceman from the Kovel District Territorial Center for Conscription and Military Service. “During this incident, the driver of a Renault Master van struck a servicemember of the Kovel District TCC and SP. The servicemember sought medical attention at the Kovel City Hospital,” the Volyn Regional TCC and SP reported.

In addition, the truck damaged vehicles belonging to the Territorial Center for Civil Protection and the police. The Territorial Center for Civil Protection stated that the incident could have been avoided if the man had immediately provided his personal information or shown his military ID and complied with the lawful request of the emergency response team members. However, once the man’s age was verified, he was released. It turned out that he was not yet 25 years old.

Law enforcement officials have documented the incident. They are currently investigating all the circumstances surrounding the incident. The Volyn Regional Military Registration and Enlistment Office and the Special Forces urged citizens not to provoke conflicts or resist military personnel and police officers while they are performing their official duties. There are currently no reports on the final legal assessment of the actions of those involved in the conflict. Law enforcement officers are to determine the circumstances of the collision and other events that occurred during the document check. This was reported by the Volyn Regional Territorial Center for Recruitment and Social Support.
