Ukrzaliznytsia is leasing space at train stations for coffee shops and stores

Ukrzaliznytsia has put 11 premises and spaces at train stations in Kyiv, Lviv, Odesa, Ivano-Frankivsk, Yaremcha, and Lozova up for auction. Businesses are being invited to open cafes, restaurants, shops, a bookstore, and a lounge area there.

The largest spaces are available in Lviv: specifically, a space of over 1,200 square meters for a restaurant. The auctions are scheduled for early September.

In Kyiv, the lots include a space for a coffee shop, a warehouse, and a souvenir shop; in Odesa, a shop and a restaurant. Separate commercial spaces are also being offered at the train stations in Ivano-Frankivsk, Yaremche, and Lozova.

Ukrzaliznytsia notes that leasing these properties will reduce maintenance costs and increase rental income.

On Thursday, August 27, dozens of Ukrzaliznytsia trains were running with significant delays due to the aftermath of Russian attacks, and some trains are more than 15 hours late. The company is working to restore service and asks passengers to check the current status of their trains before traveling.

Ukrzaliznytsia has temporarily waived fees for all paid waiting rooms at train stations across the country. Passengers will be able to stay there free of charge until Friday morning while railway workers work to restore schedules following the massive airstrike.
