Due to the extreme heat, Ukrenergo is asking Ukrainians to conserve electricity
Due to the high strain on the power grid caused by the intense heat, Ukrenergo has urged Ukrainians to use electricity sparingly. This is necessary to avoid overloading the equipment and potential emergency power outages.
The company emphasizes that the greatest strain occurs during periods of heavy use of air conditioners and other high-power household appliances.
Ukrainians are asked to limit their electricity consumption during peak hours whenever possible to help the power grid operate stably.
"The August heat has significantly increased the load on the power grid. Power workers are operating at full capacity: restoring the grid after Russian attacks and accelerating scheduled repairs. Each of us can help the power grid successfully get through this period," Ukrenergo noted.
The company advises, “During record-breaking hot days, limit the use of high-power electrical appliances (washing machines, water heaters, etc.) from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 p.m. Since the main peak in consumption occurs in the evening when the sun goes down, it is especially important to use electricity efficiently between 4:00 p.m. and 11:00 p.m."
“Use your air conditioner correctly: don’t set it to the minimum of 16–17 degrees; instead, set it to a comfortable 23–24 degrees and save kilowatts for the power grid. Also, use the automatic temperature control mode,” Ukrenergo advised.
“To prevent potential outages caused by equipment overload and, as a result, forced power cuts—please use electricity as sparingly as possible throughout this workweek. This is especially important in regions where the hottest weather is forecast. In particular, in Kyiv and the Kyiv region,” Ukrenergo urged.
The company emphasized that “shifting active electricity consumption to nighttime hours is a significant help to the power grid. The more consumers follow the advice on energy consumption patterns, the lower the likelihood of forced blackouts will be.”

Ukrenergo does not foresee any power outages on August 5.
For now, Ukrenergo’s forecast remains positive: no power outages are planned for Wednesday, August 5. NEC Ukrenergo announced this on Facebook.
