The State Bureau of Investigation has uncovered a scheme to smuggle military personnel out of their units for $13,000

Officers from the State Bureau of Investigation, together with the National Police and the Specialized Investigation Department, uncovered a criminal group that, for money, transported military personnel away from their deployment locations and helped them go into hiding. 

The organizer of the scheme turned out to be a resident of the Kyiv region, who enlisted a law enforcement officer to coordinate operations and recruit drivers. The suspects promised deserters illegal reservations and forged documents from the State Military Registration and Enlistment Service, with the price of these “services” ranging from $5,000 to $13,000.

All participants in the scheme were detained in July 2026 after receiving another payment of 7,000 dollars. The suspects, one of whom—a driver—was himself in the Special Military Service, have been placed in pretrial detention with the right to post bail; they face up to 12 years in prison.

The Security Service of Ukraine (SBU) exposed hackers who created a fake “Reserve+” app to evade mobilization.

A pre-trial investigation is currently underway to identify all participants in the criminal scheme and bring them to justice. The suspects face up to eight years in prison, according to the SBU.

As a reminder, the SBU, the State Bureau of Investigations (DBR), and the National Police have uncovered 11 more schemes to evade mobilization in various regions of Ukraine.
