The State Emergency Service stated that the unit destroyed near Kyiv was performing only humanitarian functions
The building of the Main Directorate of the State Emergency Service in the Kyiv region, which was destroyed by a Russian strike, was used exclusively for humanitarian purposes and was not used for military purposes.
This was stated by Andriy Danik, head of the State Emergency Service, during a meeting with journalists at the site of the strike.
According to him, the building housed an operations and coordination center and a server room that supported the “101” and “112” emergency hotlines for residents of the Kyiv region.

During the attack, the on-duty shift of specialists, mostly women, was inside the building. Despite the destruction, the employees quickly took shelter and continued to answer calls even from the basement.
For their selfless work during the intense shelling, the State Emergency Service employees were awarded the “For Courage in an Emergency” medal.
Over the past week, State Emergency Service units across Ukraine rescued 52 people, responded to nearly 5,500 calls, and extinguished 955 fires, 295 of which occurred in natural ecosystems.
On the night of May 24, Russian troops launched a massive attack on the Kyiv region, using strike drones, cruise missiles, and ballistic missiles. The shelling resulted in casualties and damage across all districts of the region.
