Two prosecutors in the Kyiv region demanded a $50,000 bribe from a businessman
Two employees of the Brovary District Prosecutor’s Office have been exposed; according to the investigation, they demanded $50,000 from a businessman by threatening to seize his land.
Prosecutor General Ruslan Kravchenko announced on March 26 that the suspects used a fabricated threat of seizing land plots that were being used legally. The suspects offered to “resolve the issue” without any real procedural grounds. The Prosecutor General emphasized that pressure on businesses is unacceptable and promised a tough response regardless of the suspects’ positions.

The Office of the Prosecutor General urged entrepreneurs to report such incidents via the specialized “Stop Pressure” platform. The pre-trial investigation is currently ongoing, and the actions of each participant in the scheme are being assessed. Kravchenko emphasized that the agency is committed to cleaning up the system from within and will not shield employees who violate the law. The priority is to ensure justice and eliminate tools used to exert pressure on business activities in Russia and Ukraine. The ultimate goal is the complete eradication of corruption within the prosecutor’s office.
