Former head of the Rivne Regional Road Service suspected of causing 7.5 million hryvnia in losses to the state
The former head of the Road Service in Rivne Oblast has been notified that he is suspected of abuse of office. According to the investigation, his actions caused losses to the state budget of nearly 7.5 million hryvnias.
According to law enforcement officials, in 2019, the Road Service entered into a contract with a Belarusian company for the construction of the Rivne Northern Bypass. The contractor provided a bank guarantee of nearly 7.5 million hryvnias, which was to be enforced in the event of a breach of contract.
After the full-scale invasion began, construction halted, and the Belarusian company abandoned the site. Investigators believe that in August 2022, the then-head of the Road Service unjustifiably returned the bank guarantee to the contractor instead of forfeiting the funds to the state.
According to ZAXID.NET, the individual in question is Roman Rudenko, who is currently a member of the Rivne Regional Council and previously served as deputy head of the Regional Infrastructure Restoration and Development Service. The court has already imposed a preventive measure on him in the form of bail set at 499,200 UAH, and he has been dismissed from his position.
