Elina Svitolina and Serhiy Zhadan announced the release of the book *The Top Player*
Ukrainian tennis player Elina Svitolina, in collaboration with writer Serhiy Zhadan, has written the book *The Top Player*. The athlete’s literary debut will be published on October 15.
Svitolina and Zhadan have already begun promoting the book. In a joint video, the authors discussed the plot and main characters of “The Top Player.”
“This is a book about Ukrainian schoolchildren, Ukrainian children who are growing up, searching for themselves, seeking motivation, looking for ways to overcome their problems, and ultimately achieving success,” the authors said.
At the center of the story are two teenagers—Senya and Alina—who live in different worlds, yet their stories intersect on the pages of the book.
Senya is passionate about music, while Alina dreams of playing tennis. Despite their different interests, they are united by a desire to achieve their goals and overcome challenges.
In the story, the boy helps the girl—who was forced to leave her hometown of Kharkiv—regain her self-confidence.
The illustrations for *The Top Player* were created by Olga Yakimenko.
“The Top Player” will be released on October 15. The “Ranok” publishing house has already opened pre-orders for the book.
The authors have prepared a special gift for the first 500 buyers—a greeting card with messages from Elina Svitolina and Serhiy Zhadan.
Thus, “The Top Player” will mark Elina Svitolina’s literary debut, co-authored with one of the most famous contemporary Ukrainian writers, Serhiy Zhadan.
