The EU has added another €30 million to Ukraine's energy fund
The European Union has allocated an additional 30 million euros to the Ukraine Energy Support Fund. The EU’s total contribution to this fund now stands at 279 million euros.
The European Union has allocated an additional 30 million euros to Ukraine to support the energy sector. The funds were transferred to the Ukraine Energy Support Fund. This was announced by Ukraine’s First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Energy, Denys Shmyhal. Following this new contribution, the total amount the EU has allocated to the fund has risen to 279 million euros.
According to Shmyhal, these funds are helping Ukraine restore its energy infrastructure damaged by Russian attacks. “The funds received through this financial instrument are helping us restore energy infrastructure damaged by Russian attacks, purchase critically needed equipment for our energy companies, and ensure a reliable energy supply, first and foremost for critical infrastructure,” the minister noted.
The Ukrainian Energy Support Fund uses these funds to purchase necessary equipment and materials for energy companies. This helps restore facilities after Russian strikes and maintain the stable operation of the power grid.
Such assistance is particularly important for critical infrastructure facilities, which must remain supplied with electricity even after new attacks. Thus, the EU’s new contribution should help Ukraine restore damaged energy facilities more quickly and prepare the system for further Russian attacks.
