The Ukrainian company Vyriy Industries has unveiled a new tactical reconnaissance drone, the Slavic, which it plans to bring to market.
"The drone was developed as a Ukrainian alternative to Chinese commercial drones. It allows reconnaissance crews to operate at a safer distance from the line of contact (LoC) and remain airborne longer, while retaining the control logic familiar to DJI Mavic operators,” Vyriy Industries noted.
The Slavic is equipped with a 40,000 mAh solid-state battery, which provides up to 1.5 hours of flight time. Its tactical range is up to 30 km, allowing for frontline reconnaissance while keeping the crew at a safer distance from the combat zone.
The drone can operate without GPS—Slavic uses optical positioning for navigation. The communication system operates across a wide range of channels, allowing for the selection of a channel with less interference and better performance in challenging terrain.
The manufacturer notes that for surveillance, the Slavic is equipped with a 2K digital daytime camera (2560 × 1440) mounted on a three-axis stabilized gimbal with 10x optical and 30x hybrid zoom.
It is noted that the system is delivered as a ready-to-use “out-of-the-box” solution—complete with all necessary equipment for operation without additional field modifications. The included remote control supports integration with the DELTA and “Kropiva” situational awareness systems, as well as live video streaming to the VEZHA app directly from the remote control.
“War has changed, and with it, the operating conditions for crews. The kill zone has expanded, while commercially available drones have a limited tactical range. The main task now is to provide the military with a specialized platform that flies longer and farther so that crews can operate farther from the frontline. It was with this goal in mind that we began developing Slavic,” said Oleksiy Babenko, founder and CEO of Vyriy Industries.
The company stated that its new product has successfully passed its first combat trials in seven units of the Ukrainian Defense Forces and is preparing for scaling up.
The manufacturer added that, in parallel, the team is working on new configurations for the Slavic: testing thermal imaging modules for night reconnaissance and using the platform as a relay carrier. The manufacturer is also preparing the platform for scaled-up production and delivery to the Ukrainian Defense Forces.

Ukraine currently faces a significant shortage of air defense missiles, as well as ammunition for fighter aircraft. Aviation expert Kostyantyn Kryvolap stated that the transfer of 10 missiles from Bundeswehr warehouses will not solve the problem but will only partially replenish stocks.
