Units of the Ukrainian Defense Forces have begun testing new ground-based robotic strike systems (GRS) equipped with turrets mounted with assault rifles under combat conditions. The new systems were developed according to the technical specifications of the Brave1 defense innovation cluster.
These are robotic turrets armed with Kalashnikov-type assault rifles, which are among the most widely used types of small arms in the military.
The project received grant funding, and it took less than six months from the initial idea to the creation of a finished prototype.
The use of widely available assault rifles helps reduce production costs and enables faster scaling of the deployment of robotic strike systems on the front lines.
The NRC is built on a four-wheeled chassis with solid tires and features a protected hull.
This design increases the system’s resistance to shrapnel, bullets, and punctures, and also allows it to maneuver in difficult terrain.
The fire module is equipped with a twin turret capable of mounting two automatic weapons simultaneously. This increases fire density during combat operations against enemy infantry.
Moreover, the turret itself can be used not only on this platform but also mounted on other wheeled and tracked unmanned combat vehicles.
Several units of the Defense Forces are already testing the new robotic systems directly on the front lines.
According to the Ministry of Defense, there are confirmed cases of successful use of these systems against enemy ambushes involving “loitering” drones.
Thus, robotic systems are being used to carry out missions that reduce risks to Ukrainian servicemen.
The Ministry of Defense noted that since the beginning of 2026, ground-based robotic systems have already carried out more than 100,000 missions in place of Ukrainian soldiers on the front lines.
Further scaling up of such systems is expected to expand the use of robotic technology on the front lines and enable the execution of more combat missions without the direct involvement of military personnel in the most dangerous areas.

Previously, the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine certified and authorized the “Cyclops” unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) system for use by the Armed Forces of Ukraine. The new domestically produced system is designed to effectively engage both ground-based and airborne enemy targets.
As a reminder, the Ministry of Defense has approved more than 1,100 new weapons models in the past six months.
The Ministry of Defense has codified and authorized the use of the new Ukrainian-made V-1 unmanned aerial system in the Armed Forces of Ukraine. These ultralight bombers are designed to strike concentrations of enemy personnel, vehicles, and armored equipment.
