The Cabinet of Ministers has funded the purchase of generators for cultural institutions
The Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine has reallocated 98.7 million hryvnias within the 2026 budget of the Ministry of Culture of Ukraine to purchase generators and other durable equipment for theaters, museums, libraries, arts education institutions, nature reserves, and other institutions.
The decision was made to ensure the stable operation of these institutions during power outages caused by Russian attacks on energy infrastructure. The equipment is necessary for the operation of shelters, ventilation systems, lighting, communications, fire and security alarm systems, and boiler rooms, as well as for the preservation of museum collections and cultural treasures.
“Amid constant Russian attacks on energy infrastructure, the cultural sector must be prepared to operate under various scenarios. We will allocate nearly 100 million hryvnias for generators and necessary equipment for theaters, museums, libraries, arts education institutions, nature reserves, and other institutions,” said Tetyana Berezhna, Deputy Prime Minister for Humanitarian Policy and Minister of Culture of Ukraine.
The allocated funds will be distributed as follows:
• national and state nature reserves — 27.41 million hryvnias;
• national theaters — 20 million hryvnias;
• institutions of pre-higher and higher arts education — 18.47 million UAH;
• national museums, libraries, and cultural and educational centers — 15.46 million UAH;
• national artistic ensembles, concert organizations, and circus institutions — 12.47 million UAH;
• institutions of general secondary and extracurricular arts education — 3.84 million UAH;
• the Ukrainian Cultural Foundation — 1.03 million UAH.
The reallocation of funds is carried out within the ministry’s existing budget for 2026 and does not require additional funding from the state budget.
