A Council committee unanimously supported Kravchenko's dismissal
The Verkhovna Rada Committee on Law Enforcement supported the president’s motion to dismiss Ruslan Kravchenko from the post of Prosecutor General. According to People’s Deputy Maksym Buzhansky, all 17 committee members present voted “in favor.”
The Verkhovna Rada Committee on Law Enforcement supported President Volodymyr Zelenskyy’s motion to dismiss Ruslan Kravchenko from the office of Prosecutor General. According to him, all deputies present at the meeting supported the decision. “Everyone voted in favor,” Buzhansky said.
The committee consists of 23 members in total. Seventeen of them were present at the meeting. Thus, all committee members present supported the president’s motion. Earlier, it was reported that the Verkhovna Rada committee was set to consider the issue of Kravchenko’s dismissal. One of its members predicted that the president’s motion would receive support.
Following the committee’s decision, the matter is set to move to the parliament’s plenary session. It is up to the Verkhovna Rada to make the final decision on whether to dismiss Ruslan Kravchenko from the office of Prosecutor General. In other words, the committee’s decision alone does not yet mean dismissal. It is a necessary step before the vote by members of parliament.
Ruslan Kravchenko currently serves as Prosecutor General. Previously, he also held leadership positions in government agencies and headed the Kyiv Regional State Administration. Now, the final decision regarding his continued tenure as Prosecutor General depends on a vote by the Verkhovna Rada. This was announced by Maksym Buzhansky, a member of parliament from the “Servant of the People” party and a member of the committee.
Prosecutor General Ruslan Kravchenko has published more than 30 pages of charges against NABU Director Semen Kryvonos. According to Kravchenko, the case involves the possible forgery of documents in 2008, which, according to the investigation, falls under Parts 2 and 3 of Article 358 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine.
Prosecutor General Ruslan Kravchenko released records which, according to him, pertain to NABU Director Semen Kryvonos. They allegedly concern the circumstances of a child’s adoption and the possible grounds for exemption from criminal liability.
Earlier, Prosecutor General Ruslan Kravchenko reported that he was abroad on an official business trip.
The Anti-Corruption Center stated that Prosecutor General Ruslan Kravchenko allegedly left Ukraine after signing the notice of suspicion against NABU Director Semen Kryvonos. The Anti-Corruption Center claims that this may have been done in exchange for the opportunity to leave the country.
The National Anti-Corruption Bureau of Ukraine (NABU) and the Specialized Anti-Corruption Prosecutor’s Office have denied Prosecutor General Ruslan Kravchenko’s statements regarding the alleged notice of suspicion against NABU Director Semen Kryvonos and offers of immunity.
NABU Director Semen Kryvonos does not believe there is a conflict between the Bureau and the Security Service of Ukraine (SBU), though on August 10 he reported illegal actions against NABU employees. According to him, detectives are being systematically monitored, and law enforcement officials are attempting to obtain information about the progress of investigations and planned investigative actions.
In Kryvonos’s case, the commission included international representatives: Karen Greenaway, Povilas Malakauskas, and Drago Kos, who is also a relative of European Commissioner for Enlargement Marta Kos.
The conditions for a new attack on NABU and the SAPO remain in place, says Kryvonos.
NABU has published new audio recordings as part of the “Midas” investigation, which reveal a large-scale kickback scheme in the energy sector.
As a reminder, Galushchenko was ordered to post bail of 200 million hryvnias.
NABU Director Semen Kryvonos stated that pressure is being exerted on the judges hearing the case of NABU detective Ruslan Magamedrasulov.
