lifecell will begin phasing out 3G in 17 regions of Ukraine

Starting September 3, lifecell will discontinue its 3G network in a number of towns and villages across 17 regions of Ukraine. The company plans to use the freed-up frequencies to expand 4G coverage.

The company stated that after the transition, average mobile internet speeds could increase by 20–30%. Specifically, 3G will be shut down in Zhytomyr Oblast, parts of Mykolaiv Oblast, and hundreds of towns and villages in other regions, including Khmelnytskyi Oblast.

For most subscribers, the transition will occur automatically. Those with an outdated SIM card are encouraged to replace it with a USIM or eSIM. If a smartphone does not support 4G, a new device will be required to use LTE.
