Nearly half of parents will spend more than ₴6,000 on back-to-school preparations, according to a survey
Nearly half of Ukrainian parents plan to spend more than 6,000 UAH this year to prepare their children for the new school year.
According to the survey results, 45% of parents plan to spend more than 6,000 UAH on school supplies.
Additionally:
- 18% will spend between 3,000 and 6,000 hryvnias;
- 14% plan to spend between 1,000 and 3,000 hryvnias;
- 8% will spend up to 1,000 UAH;
- about 10% of families won’t buy any school supplies at all, since they still have the necessary items from the previous school year;
- another 5% of parents do not plan to spend anything, as the items were gifted by relatives or purchased by the school.
For 58% of respondents, clothing and footwear were the largest expense category when preparing for the school year. This includes school uniforms, gym clothes, shoes, and seasonal items.
Stationery came in second place. Notebooks, pens, pencils, backpacks, and other school supplies were cited as the biggest expense by 11% of parents.
Another 8% of survey participants spent the most on educational gadgets—laptops, tablets, smartphones, and power banks.
Three percent of parents each cited textbooks and other educational materials or setting up a home workspace—such as buying a desk, chair, or desk lamp—as their main expense.
At the same time, 17% of respondents noted that they spent roughly equal amounts on different categories of school supplies.
This is according to the results of a survey by Rakuten Viber Ukraine, in which more than 9,000 users participated.
Ukrainian parents have already submitted over 127,000 applications to receive the “Schoolchild’s Package.” Of these, 121,000 applications have already been successfully processed.
Ukrainian families are already receiving their first payments under the state-funded “Schoolchild’s Package” program. In the first phase of the initiative, the government allocated over 308 million hryvnias to nearly 61,000 families.
As a reminder, Alliance Bank and KredoBank have joined the “National Cashback” government program. As a result, the total number of partner banks in the program has increased to 22.
The total amount of “National Cashback” payments is approximately ₴8 billion.
Ukrainians will begin receiving payments under the “National Cashback” program for April starting July 3, 2026. According to a decision by the Ministry of Economy, Environment, and Agriculture, the deadline for using all accrued funds has been extended through July 31.
