The defense ministers of Italy and Ukraine held their first video conference

Italian Defense Minister Guido Crosetto held his first videoconference with his Ukrainian counterpart, Yevhen Khmara. During the conversation, the parties discussed in detail the security situation on the front lines, the impact of Russian attacks on the civilian population, and issues of further military cooperation. The Ukrainian side expressed gratitude to Italy for its consistent assistance and support.

The head of the Italian Defense Ministry emphasized that the past month had been particularly difficult for Ukraine due to high civilian casualties, and assured that Italy stands ready, together with its international allies, to continue supporting Ukraine in achieving a just and lasting peace. Following the meeting, the officials agreed to maintain constant and direct contact.

Crosetto announced this on the social media platform X.

Former Ukrainian Defense Minister Mykhailo Fedorov agreed to advise Italian Defense Minister Guido Crozetto remotely and on a non-staff basis. The focus will be on modern warfare technologies and the development of defense innovations.

Ukraine needs to develop a mechanism for holding elections even in wartime, ensuring the right to vote for all citizens. Former Ukrainian Defense Minister Mykhailo Fedorov expressed this view on August 18.
