The Ministry of Defense has expedited the awarding of medals to wounded soldiers
The Ministry of Defense of Ukraine has significantly streamlined the document processing procedure and expedited the awarding of departmental honors to military personnel.

Since March 2026, there has been a positive trend in the recognition of military personnel.
New approaches to document processing have made it possible to speed up the awarding of “For Wounds” medals, ensuring that every defender receives the respect they deserve without unnecessary red tape.
Positive results in the recognition of soldiers were achieved thanks to the reform of internal communication between agencies.
First and foremost, this was made possible by increased collaboration with commanders of military units and subunits, as they are the ones who prepare and submit the documents for awards.
The new coordination process has minimized bureaucratic delays at the local level.
Intensifying the verification of submitted data has demonstrated a striking increase in the efficiency of the entire awards system.
As a result, nearly as many defenders are now being awarded each week as previously received “For Wounds” medals in a month.
In other words, the process has accelerated several times over. The relevant ministry has allocated additional resources to ensure the process runs smoothly.
The agency’s leadership is committed to ensuring that all Heroes who shed blood for the country’s independence are fully recognized with awards.
The Ministry of Defense keeps the issue of awards under constant supervision; the review and processing of documents continue nonstop. The goal is to award as many military personnel as possible who are eligible for them.
This mark of national honor is a symbol of the personal courage and sacrifice that soldiers demonstrated while carrying out difficult combat missions.
The “For Wounds” Medal is a departmental award of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine for combat wounds sustained while defending the country. This important award was established in 2019.
Current legislation clearly defines the group of individuals eligible to receive this medal, depending on the circumstances under which the injuries were sustained.
The medal is intended for servicemen of the Armed Forces of Ukraine who sustained minor or severe injuries directly during combat operations while defending the state. Injuries and disabilities sustained in captivity are considered equivalent.
