A saboteur who set fire to railway facilities was convicted in the Cherkasy region
A court found a resident of Cherkasy guilty of sabotage on behalf of Russian intelligence agencies and sentenced him to 12 years and 1 month in prison, with confiscation of his property.
According to the investigation, in June 2024, the man agreed to cooperate with representatives of Russian intelligence agencies. At night, he set fire to a transformer substation and a railway distribution cabinet in the Cherkasy district.
Law enforcement officers detained him in July 2024. The defendant remained in custody throughout the pre-trial investigation and court proceedings.
The court found the man guilty of committing an act of sabotage carried out by a group of individuals acting in concert under martial law.
