A National Police official was arrested in the Dnipropetrovsk region for causing a traffic accident while intoxicated

SBI officers detained an official from one of the National Police departments in Donetsk Oblast who, on July 12, 2026, caused a traffic accident on the Dnipro–Zaporizhzhia highway. While driving a Toyota Camry under the influence of alcohol, he veered into oncoming traffic and collided with a minibus. 

As a result of the collision, the minibus driver, two of his passengers, and the driver at fault sustained injuries and were hospitalized with fractures and contusions. The issue of formally notifying the law enforcement officer of the suspicion is currently being decided.

The penalty under the charged article provides for imprisonment for up to 8 years.
