A 50-kilogram catfish was caught in the Dniester River during the Ukrainian Fishing Cup
In Bukovina, during training for the Ukrainian Predatory Fish Cup, an angler caught a 50-kilogram catfish. The giant fish, two meters long, was reeled in from the Dniester Reservoir.
The trophy catch belongs to Maksym Myruutenko, a professional angler. The catfish was caught using a relatively light spinning rod from a boat near the village of Anadoly in the Dniester District.
The Ukrainian Predatory Fish Fishing Cup took place in Bukovina from July 1 to 4. According to the Chernivtsi Fish Protection Patrol, over the course of three rounds, competitors caught 528 predatory fish of five species.
Pike accounted for the largest portion of the catch—473 fish. The anglers also caught 40 zander, 10 perch, four catfish, and one whitefish.
After weighing and recording the results, all the fish were released back into the water. The Beton team was crowned the winner of the Ukrainian Cup.
