A Russian agent who was registering Starlink accounts for Russians was exposed in the Kyiv region

The Security Service of Ukraine has detained another Russian agent in the Kyiv region. According to the investigation, the man was registering Starlink satellite terminals for the enemy on behalf of Russian intelligence agencies.

This was reported by the SBU press center.

According to the case file, the agent turned out to be a construction worker from Irpin. It was established that, lured by the promise of “easy money,” the suspect first registered the Starlink in his own name and provided the relevant details to his handler.

Later, the agent secretly registered two more Starlink terminals in the names of his colleague and his colleague’s wife.

“After that, the suspect planned to enlist another 20 acquaintances to verify Russian terminals,” the SBU statement reads.

The agent was detained at a construction site in Irpin. During searches of his residence, several smartphones were found that he used to communicate with Russian handlers and recruit front men to register Starlink accounts.

According to investigators, the suspect came to the attention of Russian intelligence services while searching for “quick money” on Telegram channels.

SBU investigators informed the man that he is suspected of violating Part 2 of Article 111 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (treason committed under martial law). The suspect is being held in custody without the right to bail. He faces life imprisonment with confiscation of property.

Comprehensive measures were carried out by officers of the SBU Main Directorate in Kyiv and the Kyiv region under the procedural guidance of the Kyiv City Prosecutor’s Office.

Earlier, the Security Service of Ukraine prevented a series of terrorist attacks in Khmelnytskyi. An FSB agent who was planning to blow up Defense Forces vehicles was detained in the regional center.
