Ukrainian border guards report the usual increase in lines at border crossings due to the Easter holidays.

State Border Service spokesperson Andriy Demchenko spoke about this at a briefing.

“This weekend caused some public concern regarding the number of border crossings and the lines forming toward Ukraine in neighboring countries, primarily in Poland. The focus was on the fact that Ukrainians are now returning en masse for the Easter holidays,” he noted.

According to Demchenko, 617,000 citizens crossed the border from March 23 to 29, which is 60,000 more than the previous week (March 16–22). The increased passenger traffic is due to several factors: the return of Ukrainians for Catholic Easter on April 5 and the preceding school break, which increased the number of trips abroad.

“The combination of these various factors has led to a significant increase in passenger traffic,” the spokesperson emphasized.

Demchenko also noted that the growth trend in passenger traffic will continue at least until April 12.

“Some Ukrainians will begin returning to Ukraine to spend the Easter holidays at home, and afterward we will see a trend favoring departures from the country after the holidays end,” he added.

The State Customs Service of Ukraine has recorded a significant increase in traffic at the Ukrainian-Polish border.

As a reminder, a 1763 violin intended for export to the Netherlands was seized at the border in Ukraine.

Queues at the border with Poland have also grown ahead of the holidays.
