Parking lots for 470 trucks are being set up at the border with Poland

In the Lviv region, near the “Rava-Ruska–Khrebenne” and “Krakovets–Korchova” border crossings, construction is underway on parking lots designed to accommodate 470 trucks. The project is intended to promote the development of transport logistics and the modernization of border infrastructure between Ukraine and European countries.

The “Rava-Ruska” site will have 270 spaces for freight vehicles, and the “Krakovets” site will have an additional 200. The parking lots will be used for temporary parking, driver rest areas, and waiting while crossing the border.

What Has Been Done So Far

Paving has begun at one of the sites. A sand base, reinforcing synthetic material, a gravel-sand mixture, and a layer of asphalt concrete have already been laid there.

 

At the other site, water supply wells and storm drains have been installed. Earthwork is also underway.

Next, plans call for the installation of road structural layers, lighting, sidewalks, acceleration and deceleration lanes, landscaping, road markings, signs, and fencing.

The parking lots will also include restrooms with permanent electricity and water connections.

The project is funded under the European Union’s “EU-Ukraine Solidarity Roads” initiative, which covers up to 50% of the costs.

Poland has evacuated two border crossing points on the border with Ukraine due to Russian attacks.

Earlier, Poland placed six border crossing points on the border with Ukraine on high alert. Military personnel were deployed to the border crossing points, and additional security measures were implemented to ensure a quicker evacuation of people in the event of a threat.

On Wednesday, September 23, a Russian Mi-8 military helicopter violated Polish airspace, flying in from the Kaliningrad region. The Russian aircraft remained in Polish airspace for 42 seconds.
