Photo: Three people will stand trial in Lviv Oblast for counterfeiting DURACELL batteries
In the Lviv region, a case has been referred to court involving three individuals suspected of manufacturing and selling counterfeit batteries using the DURACELL trademark without authorization.
According to the investigation, between 2024 and 2025, the participants in the scheme imported more than 1.4 million unmarked batteries into Ukraine. They then used special equipment to apply the logos of well-known brands, including DURACELL, to the products, packaged them, and sold them as genuine goods.
Law enforcement officials documented the production of at least 119,200 counterfeit DURACELL batteries. Investigators estimate that the damages caused to the trademark owner exceed 5 million hryvnias.
During searches, law enforcement officers seized more than 160,000 batteries, equipment for applying markings, and packaging materials bearing the trademark without authorization.
The three defendants are charged with the unlawful use of a trademark for goods and services, committed by a group of individuals acting in concert, which caused material damage on an especially large scale (Part 3 of Article 229 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine).
The Office of the Prosecutor General emphasized that the case is part of efforts to protect intellectual property rights and combat unfair competition.
