A man who attempted to bribe border guards was detained at the border with Poland
At the “Krakivets” border crossing, border guards thwarted an attempt at bribery. A man tried to “sort things out” by offering $5,000, which he had hidden in his passport.
The 56-year-old resident of the Khmelnytskyi region intended to leave Ukraine without the documents required to cross the state border.
The man placed 5,000 hryvnias in his passport and handed it to the border guard, hoping to “resolve the issue” in this way.
The border guard refused the improper benefit. The National Police were notified of the discovery of evidence of a criminal offense under Article 369 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine—“Offering, promising, or providing an unlawful benefit to a public official.”
The State Border Guard Service of Ukraine adheres to a zero-tolerance policy toward corruption.
Since the beginning of 2026, service members of the 7th Carpathian Border Detachment have refused offered bribes in 269 cases.
The total amount of bribes exceeded 1.2 million hryvnias. The funds were offered in both national and foreign currency.
All incidents have been properly documented, and the case files have been forwarded to the relevant law enforcement agencies for further action, according to the 7th Carpathian Border Guard Detachment.
As a reminder, Russian troops attacked 54 settlements in the Zaporizhzhia region over the past 24 hours, launching 979 strikes. Three people were killed as a result of the enemy shelling, and another 24 residents were injured.
The Russians struck a residential building in the Kyiv region, injuring five people.
In the Kherson region, one person was killed and 11 others were wounded as a result of Russian strikes.
