In the Rivne region, children found a live grenade near a river

In the town of Sarny in the Rivne region, children playing near the river came across an object that looked like a grenade. They did not touch it and immediately told adults about their discovery. The police and bomb disposal experts were called to the scene. Experts confirmed that it was a live munition, which they safely defused and removed.

The incident occurred on Friday, July 17, around 5:30 p.m. It was then that the police received a report of a suspicious object found on the riverbank in Sarn. As law enforcement officers determined, the children were relaxing near the water when they noticed an unknown metal object. They did not approach it and told their parents about the discovery.

The father of one of the children, who is a combat veteran, suspected it might be a live grenade. He immediately called the police. Law enforcement officers arrived at the scene, cordoned off the dangerous area, and summoned the bomb squad. Experts examined the munition, defused it, and seized it for further investigation. “The children did the right thing by not touching the suspicious object and immediately reporting it to adults,” law enforcement officials emphasized.

After the grenade was seized, investigators opened a criminal case under Part 1 of Article 263 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine—illegal handling of weapons, ammunition, or explosive substances. The police once again urge citizens to be especially vigilant while spending time outdoors. If you notice an object that resembles ammunition, do not approach it, do not touch it, and do not attempt to move it.

In such cases, you must move to a safe distance, warn others of the danger, and immediately report the find by calling 101 or 102. This will help prevent tragic consequences. This information was provided by the Rivne Regional Police.

Over the past 18 days, the Ukrainian Armed Forces’ Unmanned Systems Forces have struck 83 energy facilities in the occupied territories and deep within enemy lines. Robert “Madyar” Brovdi, commander of the UAV Forces, stated that the last 12 targets were struck in just the past three days.
