A woman died after being beaten in the Vinnytsia region; police have detained a suspect
In the Vinnytsia region, a local resident was detained on suspicion of inflicting fatal injuries on a 25-year-old fellow villager. The woman died after being beaten with fists.
“The crime occurred on September 12 in one of the villages in the district. According to preliminary information from the investigation, during an argument, the intoxicated 37-year-old suspect punched the victim and fled. The 25-year-old woman died shortly afterward in the hospital from her injuries,” the statement reads.
Law enforcement officers located the suspect and detained him in accordance with legal procedures.
Investigators informed the suspect that he is suspected of violating Part 2 of Article 121 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (intentional grievous bodily injury resulting in the victim’s death). The penalty under this article provides for up to 10 years of imprisonment. The issue of selecting a pretrial measure is currently being decided.
