In Kyiv, ₴5.9 million was overpaid for two ultrasound machines; the former director has been charged

The former director of one of Kyiv’s municipal hospitals will stand trial for official negligence in connection with the purchase of two ultrasound machines at inflated prices. According to the investigation, the city budget overpaid more than 5.9 million hryvnias for the medical equipment.

Prosecutors from the Dnipro District Prosecutor’s Office in Kyiv have filed an indictment against the former head of the medical facility.

The investigation established that in December 2024, the official entered into a contract with a private company for the purchase of two ultrasound diagnostic systems with a total value of over 17.6 million hryvnias.

At the same time, according to the investigation, the head of the medical facility failed to ensure proper oversight of the equipment’s cost.

As a result, the two ultrasound machines were purchased at a significantly inflated price.

According to the findings of the expert examinations, the facility overpaid by more than 5.9 million hryvnias for the two ultrasound diagnostic machines.

Thus, according to the investigation, this is the exact amount of damage caused to the city budget.

The former hospital director’s actions have been classified as official negligence resulting in serious consequences.

At the same time, the final legal assessment of the defendant’s actions must be made by the court.
