Kropiva asked the court to allow him to travel to Zvyagel to meet his wife's aunt
Serhiy Kropiva, Deputy Head of the Department of International Cooperation at the Office of the Prosecutor General, asked the court to allow him to travel to Zvyagel in the Zhytomyr region to speak with his wife’s aunt.
The court asked Kropiva to clarify the nature of his relationship with this person and how she is connected to the criminal proceedings.
Kropiva replied that his wife’s aunt has no connection to the case.
At the same time, he explained that he would like to obtain permission to travel to Zviahel for a personal meeting. According to Kropiva, if the prosecutors do not object to such a trip, he would like the permission to be worded as clearly as possible and leave no room for misinterpretation.
During the hearing, the financial situation of Serhiy Kropiva and his family was raised as a separate issue.
Earlier, media outlets reported on property linked to his relatives, with a total value of approximately $1 million. This includes real estate and other assets, information about which journalists found in public registries.
At the same time, the mere fact that the property is registered in the names of relatives does not prove that it belongs to Kropiva or was purchased with his funds.
NABU and the Specialized Anti-Corruption Prosecutor’s Office (SAPO) are conducting a special operation to expose a criminal organization which, according to the investigation, is headed by an official from the Office of the Prosecutor General.
Its members are suspected of “protecting” a network of fraudulent call centers and laundering assets.
Earlier, in August, law enforcement agencies conducted a large-scale special operation against fraudulent call centers throughout Ukraine.
During 411 searches, 94 call centers were shut down and 1,794 operator workstations were dismantled.
In addition, law enforcement seized over $2 million, computer equipment, phones, SIM cards, bank cards, crypto wallets, and luxury cars.
At the same time, the circumstances outlined in the case are based on the investigation’s findings and theories, and the suspects’ guilt must be proven in court.
This information came to light during a court hearing.
Kropiva and his associates came under scrutiny due to new recordings released by NABU.
Prosecutor Kropiva, a figure in the NABU investigation, secured a pension of 300,000 at the age of 42 through the courts.
Earlier, it was reported that NABU and the Special Anti-Corruption Prosecutor’s Office (SAPO) are conducting a large-scale special operation at the Office of the Prosecutor General regarding a case of possible “protection” of fraudulent call centers.
Prosecutor General Kravchenko disappeared after the NABU and SAP operation began. According to UP’s sources in political circles, Kravchenko drove into the government quarter, after which no one saw him.
Later, Prosecutor General Ruslan Kravchenko was located and stated that he had nothing to do with covering up illegal call centers and had not given any instructions to facilitate their operations.
Prior to this, during a court hearing, Serhiy Kropiva commented on the recordings included in the criminal case file. He stated that he did not recognize the statements made in them as his own and assured the court that he had “fought against evil his entire life.”
