At the Bereziv Gymnasium, children found a spider in a meatball during lunch—a spider not included in the recipe
At the Berezivka Gymnasium in the Ivano-Frankivsk region, students noticed a spider near a cutlet during lunch on September 15. Following the incident, cafeteria staff immediately stopped serving that dish, and the school administration launched an internal investigation.
Currently, the gymnasium has drawn up a report and formed a commission to determine at what stage the spider could have ended up in the dish. Experts are examining the processes of food preparation, food storage, and the serving of prepared meals. According to the school’s principal, Oksana Vary, there had been no previous complaints about the quality of the food from parents or students.

Ihor Zinkevych, a member of the Lviv City Council, published photos of lunches from the cafeteria at Lviv School No. 32, the appearance of which sparked outrage and raised questions among parents and social media users about the quality of the children’s meals.

In Ukraine, meal services were inspected at 567 schools where students in grades 1–11 receive free hot lunches. Deficiencies related to food storage, hygiene, menus, and food preparation were found in nearly half of the schools. At the same time, no food safety violations were found in approximately half of the schools inspected.
